This is a web log dedicated to organizing the GLBT community and working to counter those with TRUTH that are attacking the GLBT family and friends. We advocate the positions of Ghandi and Martin Luther King; we will NOT remain silent to injustice. We are also expressly interested in exposing hypocrisy, including those that live closeted lives and work against the basic civil rights that WE DEMAND be afforded those of us living honorable, honest, OUT and PROUD lives!

Gay Marriage Ban struck down in California!

and before right wingers start screaming about "activist judges" remind them California is a conservative court, and you can't get any more activist than installing a President like the Republicans did in 2000!

Hooray!

Typical GOP Family Values Punk

I got this from my friends over at "demookie.com." This is such typical behavior from Republican hypocrites. So typical.

Fossella shuns his gay sister
BY MELISSA GRACE AND TINA MOORE
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS
Monday, 12 May, 2008

Vito Fossella built a career as a staunch "family values" pol, polishing his image in his predominantly Catholic district with a string of anti-gay votes. He even shuns his gay sister, Victoria Fossella, refusing to go to family events if she and her partner attend, a source close to the family said.

His double life is now exposed with the news he has a 3-year-old love child with a divorced Air Force colonel, and critics are calling him a hypocrite.

"Has the Catholic Church now sanctioned adultery?" asked John Adrian, a 64-year-old gay activist on Staten Island. "That just makes him that more hypocritical," points out Adrian.

As congressman, Republican Fossella voted to prohibit any funding for joint adoptions by gay couples.

He also voted for the Marriage Protection Amendment, a federal prohibition on civil marriage equality.

He also demanded housing funds be held back from San Francisco unless it repealed its domestic partnership law.

Victoria Fossella is openly gay and marched in Staten Island's gay pride parade with her partner, according to an article published in Gay City News. She adopted twins who were delivered by her partner, according to the story.

"She is known in the gay community and she is known in the gay community as an out lesbian," Adrian said.

A man who answered the door yesterday at Victoria Fossella's house refused to talk to a reporter.

"Nobody in the gay community likes [Vito Fossella]," Adrian said. "That speaks to his opposition to gay rights legislation."

McCain making the case he shouldn't be picking judges...

John McCain has been making a big issue over his supposedly being able to pick better judges, and lamenting how so-called "liberal judges" have been sticking their noses in business they shouldn't. His template for the perfect judge? He thinks Supreme Court Chief Judge Roberts and Alito are exactly the kind of judges we need.

I agree with John McCain in that judges should remain out of issues that should not be considered in court. Specifically, it is an outrage the conservative members of the Supreme Court stepped into the "Bush vs. Gore" fray in 2000:

"And O'Connor and Kennedy were members of the five-justice majority that, in Bush vs. Gore, intervened in a presidential election on legal grounds that can charitably be described as flimsy. Bush vs. Gore was one of the most remarkable judicial power grabs in American history. It would have been anathema to judicial conservatives of the 1950s and 1960s, like Justices Felix Frankfurter and John Marshall Harlan, who repeatedly warned the court about entering the "political thicket."

and guess who was responsible for preparing the attorneys to present the case before the Supreme Court? Why it was good ol' John Roberts!

"Dress Rehearsal

Soon after getting the call from Cruz, Roberts traveled from his Washington office at Hogan & Hartson to Tallahassee to lend advice and help polish legal briefs. Later, Roberts participated in a dress rehearsal to prepare the Bush legal team for the US Supreme Court.

Cruz's account is the first to place Roberts firmly within the Bush vs. Gore battle, filling in substantial blanks in the memories of everyone from Bush's campaign lawyer, Ben Ginsberg, to the governor. "

Both linked articles should be read in their entirety and are a great case studies as to why John McCain is the WRONG person to be picking judges if he thinks John Roberts should be his template.

As far as John Roberts is concerned, wouldn't it be nice to have your conservative friends in the Supreme Court select a President you helped get selected, so you could then be selected to be Chief Judge of the Supreme Court? It must be nice to have friends in such high places! Too bad for the rest of us, huh? If only the Supreme Court had selected the President us little people ELECTED in 2000, we wouldn't be experiencing the results of eight years of disastrous policy. Then again, Judge Scalia has some charming words for us peons who think we should be able to elect our President, instead of judges being able to select the man who will pick their colleagues:

"I say nonsense," Scalia said, when asked about critics who say the 5-4 ruling was based on politics and not justice. "Get over it. It's so old by now."

John McCain just keeps making the case he doesn't have the judgment to be President.

Andrew Rice and Tornado Warning!

We hosted Andrew Rice for the Delaware County Democratic Indian Taco dinner last night. I got to emcee the event, and we were hoping for more people but, otherwise, it was a success! Andrew is an incredible speaker, and he is right when he says, "If we can't beat Inhofe this year, then we might as well fold up our tents here in Oklahoma." Inhofe SHOULD BE extremely vulnerable simply because he is a national embarassment. I'm hoping Oklahoman's wake up and vote for the best candidate to represent us, and don't just blindly stamp Inhofe because they are used to his sorry ass.

It was a close call here in Delaware County today. I've been in several tornadoes in my life, and thought the clouds were going to spin one up. Unfortunately, another storm produced a deadly one about 40 miles north of here and killed around ten people.

Its tornado season here, and its already been an active one...

Cindy McCain will NEVER release tax returns?

Cindy says she will "NEVER" release her tax returns. Oh, realllly?!!?

"Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said Cindy McCain's refusal to release her tax returns gives the appearance of a double standard on the part of her husband.

"What is John McCain trying to hide?" Dean said in a statement. "Throughout this campaign, he has acted like his own calls for openness and accountability apply to everyone but himself. Now he thinks he can bring that same double standard to the White House."

Hmmm... I vaguely remember Republicans GNASHING their damned teeth when Teresa Heinz Kerry refused to release her statements. Oh, and she had to eventually relent to their demands.

"(CNN) -- Bowing to political pressure, the presidential campaign of Democrat John Kerry released financial data on the wealth of his multimillionaire wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry."

Double standard much? This is unacceptable. What does Cindy McCain have to hide? Isn't that the standard chorus from Republicans?

Remember all that vicious talk about how John Kerry used his wife's money to run his campaign, or he would be nothing without her money? Remember all that Tides foundation bull crapola? Republicans alwa

Indiana = Time for Closed Primaries

The margin of victory is so small that Rush Limbaugh's dittoheads were key to Hillary's narrow victory. Of course, as far as delegates go it doesn't mean much but the perception means a lot.

Indiana is the NEW CASE study for why we need closed primaries. Republicans SHOULD NOT be able to make mischief in our nomination process!

Wild Night in Politics!

Hey, the results are still TOO CLOSE TO CALL in Indiana. That means Hillary needs to step down. This is it. Its over and its time to move on so Democrats can WIN the White House.

North Carolina was a blow out. Just one more reason for her to gracefully leave, and to consider the Vice Presidential slot if Obama will have her.

Dallas Condo

I am returning from Dallas, TX and a trip there to stock our condo we finally closed on last week.

Partner and I went to IKEA for furniture, and it was an incredible experience. I never shopped there before, and I'm big fan after doing so.

We bought a sectional type couch / trundle bed hybrid.

Glad the closing finally occurred. We started with Countrywide right before the big meltdown, and have been worried ever since that we wouldn't close in time. We had twenty four hours before the initial contract would have been null and void. Whew!

I'm still living in Tulsa, but this condo will help when we need to be in Dallas, which is often enough to justify the cost.
