Pink Panthers Blog!

This is a web log dedicated to organizing the GLBT community and working to counter those with TRUTH that are attacking the GLBT family and friends. We advocate the positions of Ghandi and Martin Luther King; we will NOT remain silent to injustice. We are also expressly interested in exposing hypocrisy, including those that live closeted lives and work against the basic civil rights that WE DEMAND be afforded those of us living honorable, honest, OUT and PROUD lives!

Michael Moore versus Westboro Baptist Church

Those Westboro Baptists just can't seem to handle Michael and friends. Warning: This is a extremely FUNNY video:

FORT WORTH GAY BAR RAIDED!

Not only was it raided, but it just so happens it was raided on our community's FORTIETH anniversary of the Stonewall Inn Riots in New York City!

Can you say, "EQUAL RIGHTS NOW!!!" ???

It is time for us to start protesting and engaging in civil disobedience until we are treated like citizens in our own country. As Harvey Milk said, "We've got to give them HOPE!" Indeed, it is up to us in the LGBT to give our future generations hope.

My only regret is I'm not in Dallas tonight, or I would drive up to Ft. Worth and PROTEST with the rest of my community there.

Farrah Fawcett vs. Michael Jackson vs. Governor Sanford

Well, the Governor Sanford scandal has been successfully pushed aside by all the celebrity deaths.

Between the two, I'd rather concentrate on Farrah Fawcett than Michael Jackson because I'm just waiting for the drug overdose shoe to drop on that one. Michael Jackson is just a sad case of an extremely talented person who needed some major therapy and rehab.

I always loved Farrah Fawcett and thought she had a sweet, innocent spirit.

Well, for anyone that passes, my hope is they Rest In Peace in the arms of G-d.

As for Governor Sanford? He still has lots of 'splaining to do! Its the hypocrisy that I can't stand with Republicans. Always willing to tell other's how to live their lives but never can be bothered to live up to their own standards. Heh...

At the ranch...

I've been at the ranch watching the cattle, horses, dogs and cats while my mother and her boyfriend takes some vacation time in Ruidoso, NM. In fact, "Western Horseman" was here the day before yesterday finalizing a photo shoot of my mother's ranch.

Lately, I've been following the controversy over the hideous DOMA brief, the Obama Administration filed to defend that nasty law. In the meantime, two servicemen are discharged daily because of "Don't Ask / Don't Tell."

As most of you know, I'm a moderator at Americablog.com and that keeps me so busy I barely have time to post here. Got a few other irons in the fire, as well.

I urge all my Pink Panther friends in no longer supporting the DNC and any kind of transparent attempts they make to make nice until we see actual movement on our civil rights issues. I agree with John Aravosis. The leaders in our community and the Democratic organization need to realize the Gay ATM is CLOSED until the Obama Administration decides to move forward substantially on our rights.

Just thought I'd do a long overdue update.

Will Obama be Truman on Gay Rights?

Not unless he starts moving to the LEFT fast, he won't.

"In June, 2008, Michelle Obama came to Manhattan's Waldorf Astoria for a fundraiser with wealthy gay Democrats and spoke of civil rights struggles "from Selma to Stonewall."

Nearly one year later, gay rights issues have taken on a renewed prominence. Recent shifts in states from Iowa to New Hampshire have upped the tally to six states that now recognize same-sex marriage. Meanwhile, California's high court recently upheld a voter-approved proposition blocking gay marriage. And on Monday, the Supreme Court denied a request to review the Pentagon's ban on gays serving openly in the military.
Quiet at the center of this storm is Barack Obama."

PFAW Calls for DHS to Publish "Rightwing Extremism" Report

I love "People for the American Way." They do lots of good work in Washington, D.C.

I'm glad to hear they are asking for the DHS report on the threat of right wing extremism to be released.

"In the wake of the murder of Dr. George Tiller in Kansas and Stephen T. Johns at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, People For the American Way President Michael B. Keegan called for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to finalize and publish its "Rightwing Extremism" report. The report was released by DHS earlier this year, but retracted after its content became the subject of manufactured controversy from Religious Right groups."

Go LEFT - FAST!

Obama better stop listening to the "genius" in the White House who is advising him to not "do anything" regarding "Don't Ask / Don't Tell."

He better get to the LEFT fast before Republicans steal the issue. He should know voters have VERY short memories.

"As hard as it is to imagine the party of George Bush and Karl Rove transitioning into cheerleaders at a gay pride parade, it looks like we're headed there. A recent Gallup poll shows that a majority of Americans favor openly gay and lesbian soldiers in the military. And it's not a slim majority, either."
